11 Ways to Fix Hulu Error Code 502

What is Hulu error code 502 about?

The Hulu error code 502 is an HTTP status code that occurs when two different internet servers are having trouble communicating. This implies that one server on the internet received an invalid or incorrect response from another server. It usually displays inside the internet browser window, just like web pages do or the Hulu web page. 

What cause Hulu error code 502?

  • Internet connection is poor. 
  • Website Cookies.
  • Some browser extensions.
  • Problems with the browser or device.

Hulu error code 502 description

This error is customized by each website, different web servers describe this error differently.

You will see the error in the following ways:

  • 502 Bad Gateway.
  • 502 Service Temporarily Overloaded.
  • Error 502.
  • Temporary Error (502).
  • 502 Proxy Error.
  • 502 Server Error: The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.
  • HTTP 502.
  • 502. That’s an error.
  • Bad Gateway: The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
  • HTTP Error 502 – Bad Gateway.

You can also receive this error in Windows Update, here it generates a 0x80244021 error code or the message WU_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_BAD_GATEWAY.

Also, Google services, such as Google Search or Gmail also experience a 502 Bad Gateway error, they often show it as a Server Error or 502 on the screen.

How to fix Hulu error code 502 

Here are a few ways to troubleshoot this error:

  1. Restart Device
  2. Load the Hulu webpage again
  3. Update Hulu app/device
  4. Clear browser Cookies
  5. Verify if Hulu servers are online
  6. Try a different browser
  7. Ensure you have stable a internet connection
  8. Re-login to your Hulu account
  9. Reinstall Hulu app
  10. Change DNS servers
  11. Use the Safe Mode browser

#1. Restart device

Restarting the device you are using to stream Hulu can be so effective in fixing the Hulu error code 502.  Simply turn the device off and then on again, then try streaming Hulu again to see if the issue disappears. 

#2. Load the Hulu webpage again

This error code might be occurring because there is a problem with your browser. Reload the web page again to see if that fixes the problem. Press the Ctrl + R and F5 keys or Command + R keys on Mac at once to reload the Hulu page or simply click the reload button located in the top-left area of the browser.

#3. Update Hulu app/device

Every new update in an application or software usually comes with an update to its features, and these updates also fix whatever errors and bugs that pose an issue. If you are getting an error such as this, try updating the Hulu app. Or update your device as well as it can be where the error is coming from.

To update the Hulu application:

  • Open Microsoft store.
  • Locate the upper right corner of the Hulu app, click the three-dot button for a menu. 
  • Select the Downloads and Updates option from the menu
  • On the list of applications, click on Hulu and select Update.
  • The latest version will be downloaded and installed.

Open the application and try streaming a content on Hulu to see if the error is being fixed.

#4. Clear browser cookies 

Error code 502 error can be occurring because you have not cleared the cookies in your browser that might be corrupted. Press the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys simultaneously to clear browser cookies. 

Or go to Settings >  click on Privacy and Security > clear browsing data.

To clear cache: click on Apps and Notification > See all apps > select Hulu > click on  Storage & Cache > then Clear Cache.

#5. Verify if Hulu servers are online

There might be an outage of Hulu service in some locations. You will not be able to get the Hulu streaming service if you live in such an area. Check the Hulu official website to see if there is a general server outage in your area, in this case you have to wait for the servers to be back online.

#6. Try a different browser

Try using a different browser to open the Hulu streaming service and see if that solves the problem, because your usual browser might be having issues. Delete and reinstall the browser to see if that fixes the problem or just change to a new browser. Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Safari are verified browsers you can use for Hulu.

#7. Ensure you have a stable internet connection

Unstable network, slow internet, and connection errors can result in the Hulu error code. Check your internet connection whether you are using Wi-Fi, cable, or mobile data. Fix the signal to be strong, ensure connection is stable. Have better network coverage if you are using mobile data.

#8. Re-login to your Hulu account

Log out from your Hulu account , then re enter your credentials and log back on. Check again to see if the error goes away

#9. Reinstall Hulu app

 Another thing you can simply do is to uninstall the Hulu app from your device and reinstall it. Log into your account and try streaming content again, the error might go away.

#10. Change DNS servers

Changing the DNS servers either on your router, on your computer or device can resolve the errors. 

The DNS servers you have configured are the ones automatically assigned by your internet service providers. There are a number of other DNS servers available for your use.

#11. Use the Safe Mode browser

A lot of browsers now have so many extensions and add-ons running in them. These add-ons and extensions can bring up some compatibility issues resulting in the error 502.  A simple solution to this is to try the safe mode in the browser which turns off any extension or add-ons in the browser causing the error.

When you put your browser in safe mode and you notice no error has occurred while running with the default settings, it means that there is a problem with your extensions. Disable these extensions and enjoy an error-free service.
