Assistant Sports Director is someone who provides support for Sport Directors in schools, colleges, universities and recreation departments and also has the overall sport Program. Job Description of an Assistant Sports Director
Assistant Sport Director’s report should be made to the sport director, while direct reports should be made to all paid and volunteer coaches, equipment managers, and trainers.

Essential Functions: The Assistant Sports Director should be able to assist the Sport Director in the following areas:
- Supervising the High School and Middle School athletic programs
- Development of an annual budget and its implementation.
- Development of the interscholastic athletic schedules and official schedules for all contests.
- Coordination of transportation for all athletic contests.
- Coordination of support personnel for all athletic contests, including ticket sales, security, game management, athletic trainer and emergency personnel and apparatus.
- Supervision of all contests and the athletic coaches.
- Implementation and monitoring usage of the Athletic Code of conduct.
- Represents the district, as needed, at Conference, District and state meetings for administering the interscholastic athletic program.
- Ensuring that all applicable laws and regulations relating to athletics are applied and followed, including federal laws and regulations, state laws and regulations.
- Creates materials to publicize sporting and athletic events, both in electronic and printed formats, for the purpose of fostering enhanced awareness and disseminating information among students, staff, and the community in recognizing and supporting the school’s athletic programs and attending events.
- Handling media relations for the purpose of providing information regarding schedules, postponements or cancellations, sporting event statistics, records, and other relevant information.
- Handling all injuries and accidents in accordance with school policies, including proper reporting and documentation requirements.
- Maintaining records and documents as required and necessary to ensure proper documentation of athletic program activities, events, participation, and related information for the purpose of complying with school policies as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Responsible for carrying out all other duties assigned by the Sport Director and/or a district administrator.

- He/She should have a Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
- An Assistant Sports Director is required to have a successful experience managing or directing the athletic programs of a school district preferred. Also have a successful supervisory experience required.
