A definition by Wiki says – Fast food is a type of mass-produced food designed for commercial resale and with a strong priority placed on “speed of service”.

Fast food as the name implies is a meal that is most usually already made and most usually available immediately an order is placed by an interested customer, and this type of food service is mostly found at sit-down restaurants, drive – throughs, eateries, takeout and recently home deliveries etc.

Fast food have very wide varieties and is available almost every where there is a human population. Fast food also have very high patronage, due to the speed of availability, it can also be frozen. They are also not limited to junks like most people think, they also consist of cooked meals, that are most usually served hot.

  • Cookies

  • Snacks
  • Salad
  • Sushi

  • Chick Fil- A happily rocks first position for their chicken
  • McDonald’s are widely known for their burgers
  • Starbucks is a household name for snacks
  • Subway have their pride in sandwiches
  • Pizza hut as their name betrays them ranks good for pizza
  • KFC is another popular chicken spot Arby’s are a brand dedicated to sandwiches
  • Hardee’s major in burgers Wendy’s same
  • Dominos trusted for pizza
  • Taco bell for Tacos, these are just to mention very few.

Outside the United States they are thousands of fast food depots with specifications to country dishes, for instance they are fast food depot that have their onions in Chinese meals, a good example is the Pan Express, Pei Wei Asian Diner, etc.

These fast food depots vary based on countries and some countries have intercontinental fast food depots too, to service their foreigners.

Typically fast foods though highly patronized, are often mass produced and its health percentage can be questioned. This is because its preparation involves many hands, therefore its hygiene is uncertain and also there is usually a tendency of raised cholesterol levelsdue to the presence of high carbs, sugar, fats etc since it’s main aim is to stay delicious and fill the tummy while meeting demand, so much attention might not be given to its preparation which increases health risks.

Fast foods have enormous benefits too – they are usually handy and are great life savers, they are delicious and some people find them addicting, it gives people an unlimited variety of choices and an opportunity to eat something other than miss a mealtime. It is budget friendly, especially for low income earners so they don’t have to starve.

Fast foods doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and it’s best to consume them with utmost discipline and caution. This is to say, if you must have your favorite burger, snack or smoothie from a fast food, take a moment to make a little research on the hygienic condition of the fast food depot in view. Be disciplined enough to be careful what type of fast food meals you try out, not everything that looks yummy is actually good for you. Also, try to minimize the level of patronage to fast foods by having a chef or taking personal culinary courses to better your cooking and ultimately eat healthy well cooked meals at any place you are, office, schools, gyms etc. Ultimately develop good eating ethics and prolong your lifespan.
