In a bit to burn fat, shed some calories or gain some and even attain the perfect body physique we work so hard on our exercise, follow through our routines and beyond, doing some more minutes and sessions even at the risk of our health in other words we over train. This definitely takes a toll on us eventually and it may be just too much by the time we find out. Our bodies are not machines, it is usually no use trying to make it seem like one, so it is best not to overwork it. Yet, how do we know that we are overtraining them, so we could regulate our trainings better.
Overtraining happens when we ignores the signs that our bodies give that tells us we are tired or stressed and should take a break. Some people in the process of training pay deaf ears to these signals and yet continue to push themselves to train even more to wade off those sign of weakness. these often times leave them with all sorts of body aches and discomfort which may take days or weeks before recovery and in extreme cases may take months and of course you know what that means for persons athletes and others who have sport careers, they simply won’t be allowed to participate in any until they are fully recovered and this may set in depression.
What to watch our for in order to spot overtraining include:
Inability to train due to Soreness: Your legs may begin to feel heavy and sore, this might be something you previously could manage but may have worsened especially after a workout and may persist if training continues.
Low Motivation: You may loose your motivation and inspiration that fuels you to go round your routines.
Anger or confusion: You may begin to feel anger over the thought of workouts, confused about your lack of zeal and low performance etc
Thoughts of Quitting: You may begin to contemplate the idea of skipping or quitting training sessions altogether.
Inability to Observe quality sleep: This is yet another symptom of overtraining, you may be experiencing fatigue, become too tensed and increased discomfort so much so that you can barely observe quality sleep.
Other minor symptoms may include, decreased energy to work, increased risk of illness, Irregular menstrual cycles, unhappiness and mood swings, lack of interest in things that were once exciting and fun.
They are levels to overtraining symptoms and this differs with people, exercise routines should be regulated appropriately to ensure optimum health.
