Saatva Mattress Construction

The Saatva is a hybrid mattress that uses a combination of materials for its construction, including a comfort layer with fiber fill, polyfoam, memory foam, and pocketed coils along with a support system of hourglass coils.
1. Tempered steel coils make up the upper layer of the Saatva mattress, and they’re strengthened with dense foam edges to help boost edge support.
2. Followed by another system of coils, but they are singly wrapped to help improve motion isolation as they each work separately from each other.
3. A layer of “high-density” memory foam to add pressure relief, comfort, support and neutralize the feel of the steel coils below.
4. Topping the mattress is a thick, 3-inch pillow top made with fluffy fibers and comfy foams. It adds another layer of coziness on top of the memory foam, and it’s enclosed in an organic cotton cover.
The soft and wooly pillow top is covered with organic cotton.

Saatva Mattress Performance

Motion isolation
Plush Soft: 3/5, Luxury Firm, Firm: 2/5
The Saatva does not isolate as much motion as some hybrids on the market.
The Saatva’s comfort system uses thin layers of memory foam combined with the Euro-top’s fiber fill to help the bed isolate movement better than a traditional innerspring mattress. However, sleepers may still experience some motion transfer when their partner changes position due to the mattress’s two layers of springs.
The Plush Soft version of the Saatva absorbs slightly more motion than the Luxury Firm and Firm options, this is all thanks to its softer feel.
Edge support
Plush Soft: 3/5, Luxury Firm, Firm: 4/5
The Saatva Mattress offers phenomenal edge support. The mattress is extra supportive because of its dual-coil design with foam edges around the perimeter of the bottom coil layer to help boost edge support abilities. This edge boosting is excellent even compared to most hybrid models.
Temperature
Hybrid mattresses like Saatva (mattress that use both foam and coils) tend to be more breathable than all-foam mattresses because the coils permit for increased airflow. The Saatva isn’t necessarily a cooling mattress but it should sleep temperature-neutral. Saatva cotton cover also allows air circulation into the mattress and Euro-top uses poly foam and fiber, which tends to be more breathable than memory foam.
Saatva’s support layer also uses coils, making the mattress exceptionally breathable and the firmness options also help promote a cooler night’s sleep.
Durability
The Saatva mattress is durable just as any other mattress. The Saatva Classic should be long-lasting and go without sags for at least 10 years due to its dual innerspring layers and extra-strength coils in the base layer. Its strong construction and lifetime warranty speak a lot about how long it should last.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic mattress is one of the handful of online beds that emit very little or no unpleasant off-gassing smell. Additionally, any potential smell should dissipate quickly and are not considered due to its breathable construction.
Who is This Mattress Best For?
Sleepers get maximum support and durability from beds with back-to-back coils.
Position
The Saatva mattress provides three firmness levels from soft to firm on the firmness scale. This means the beds are generally more supportive and firm, making all of them ideal for sleepers with any sleeping position type.
Side sleepers will prefer the Luxury Plush model to get additional pressure relief, while petite side sleepers under 150 pounds would consider a different mattress.
Body type
The Saatva mattress offers plenty of support and durability for individuals who weigh 150 pounds and above.
