Firestick remote is very useful if you own an Amazon Fire TV. However before you can start using it, you have to pair the remote to your TV. This process varies slightly with different devices; and depends if you have paired other remotes or if you are using an off brand Bluetooth remote.

How to pair Firestick remote

Follow these steps to pair a Firestick remote:

Hold the Home button on Firestick remote for about a minute.
A blue light on your remote will flash a few times to indicate that pairing is successful. Or an on screen confirmation message to indicate that remote has been paired.
If pairing is not successful, Unplug the Firestick from power source and take out the batteries.

Use compatible non Firestick remote, you can use as a regular remote. Amazon Fire TV recognizes specific type of Bluetooth profile. This includes Advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP), human interface device profile(HID), Serial Port Profile (SPP).

Go to settings of Fire TV menu.
Select Controllers and Bluetooth devices.
Select other Bluetooth device.
Select Add Bluetooth.
Amazon Tv will scan for your device.
Once recognized, select the name from the list of devices on the screen.
