PlayStation 5 which is the latest release from Sony became available in November 2020, and now we are anticipating the release of PlayStation 6.
Every new PlayStation release is within 6 to 7 years of the previous PS. So since PlayStation 5 was out in November 2020 we expect PlayStation 6 sometime in 2026 or 2027.
As long as we know, PlayStation 6 is still in research and development but we hope to see PS 5 Pro or PS 5 slim anytime in 2023. Now we are clear on PlayStation 6 release date, we will look at information concerning prices and what to expect from PS6.
Note that every info about about PlayStation 6 in this article are not facts but just hopes of what will be embedded in PS 6 and what we expect from it.
PlayStation 6 price
Since last consoles launched between $400 and $500, it’s assumed that PlayStation 6 will cost as much as $600 depending on the extra features and improvements the next generation PlayStation will come with.

Pre orders will start as soon as and official statement has been made by Sony, and customers will pre order from the official website.
What we expect from PlayStation 6
Based on the features available in PlayStation 5, these are what we expect from PlayStation 6:
1. Storage improvement
We hope that Sony makes significant improvement in the internal hard drive of PS6. PS5 internal hard drive is not large enough for the user’s needs, expanding is possible but not easy, PS 5 currently has an SSD 825GB.
It’d be nice if internal hard drive of PS6 is accessible so that swapping out hard drive for something more significant is easier. Something like a plug and go model. The user can use an external hard drive but can’t get anything near the read speeds they’re used to with the internal NVME SSD. If the hard drive is not upgraded, a bigger SSD can suffice for most people.
There are speculations that Sony will make PS 6 upgradable even include a space for PS 6 hard drive to be included.
2. Built-in wireless features
Modern consoles can connect to the internet wirelessly, so we expect wireless charging as that’d be awesome. It’s preferable if it’s more realistic with an area at the top of the console for charging accessories, since it’s always plugged in we can as well charge our gadgets like the headset’s wireless adapter. If phones can have wireless charge, how much more a modern play station.
3. Cloud gaming
We would love to see Sony shift towards cloud gaming, so we have hopes of a lighter and less costlier cloud gaming feature in PS 6 gaming console.
4. Virtual reality (VR) integration
This is the most important because it’s where the real gaming is. Right now we have separate devices to hook up to our computer and consoles to benefit from virtual reality gaming.
Hopefully Sony will likely launch PS 6 Virtual reality (VR2) compatibility. As well as adding motion controller and headsets into the same box as the console in their new release.
5. Updated user interface
It is common to see a refreshed user interface in every new tech release. Hopefully PS 6 will get an updated User Interface with better navigation. We hope they add customization options easier to browse on the console.
6. Smaller design
PlayStation 5 is very tall and visible, you can see it from anywhere you are. It’s not portable at all, so we hope PlayStation 6 is a smaller console.
Hopefully Sony downsizes PS 6 a bit, probably the they will because we don’t expect an even bigger console than PS 5. A smaller design can fit into wherever you place it without being visible. Already they are speculations that PS 6 will be a more portable console than PS 5 which is regarded as the larger video game console.
7. Digital- only console
Users might not be happy with a PlayStation 6 that lacks disc support, as it will not allow them collect physical games and movies. Hopefully we get it on this new anticipated release
8. Modular upgrades
Every new release has a software upgrade. So we expect more upgrades in both the software and hardware features of PlayStation 6. Adding newer technologies will definitely take PS6 to a whole new level.
9. Spec and features
There are specs and features we expect from PlayStation 6. We expect a PS 6 gaming console with faster and more capable CPU, more responsive controls, an entirely made up just for fun concept video released by DZ Migo in terms of day. PS 6 will have elements taken from various versions of Xbox. We hope PS 6 will be able to have higher frame and a better resolution.
PS 6 will definitely be a lot better in terms of spec and features than previous version. We all have to wait for it to be released to see these cool features.
